Empowering SMEs in Tourism

This use case addresses the challenges tourism SMEs face in accessing and utilizing complex data, limiting their ability to optimize operations and improve customer satisfaction. By creating an ecosystem of intermediaries, it will connect SMEs with TravelTech providers and data-driven solutions, simplifying data access and innovation.

Challenges

Tourism SMEs in Lapland face significant data management challenges:

  • Difficulty in collecting, processing, and interpreting complex datasets for informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Limited resources, such as tech expertise and necessary skills, which impede their ability to fully leverage European Data Spaces.
  • The lack of a centralized platform offering tailored, industry-specific applications, hindering innovation and competitiveness.

Solutions

The objective of this pilot is to create an ecosystem of technology companies that leverage existing data within the ETDS to develop applications.

These applications will be then published in a marketplace-style platform, supporting the growth of TravelTech solutions tailored to the needs of the tourism industry.
